Known for his ability to irritate the opposing professional (particularly Australians) due to his refusal to respect anybody, Killelea seldom completes a match without being involved in some form of controversy. Killelea becomes increasingly more effective as the stakes rise; this is seen by many as a psychological flaw in his armoury, but by others as his strength. Despite being jibed at for his "unusual" shot selection he seldom scores more than 15% of his run totals outside the "V." A hard hitter of the ball despite his diminutive stature, Killelea is not afraid to travel the aerial route to score runs. Killelea has been consistently the best all round fielder in the Lancashire League for a number of years and has the ability to make things happen at any time. His presence anywhere in the field often shuts down a whole avenue of run-scoring opportunities for the opposing batsman as he takes personal grievance if the opposition score in his patch.
