Profile:
An excellent timer of the ball O'Connor looks most at home when the ball is coming on to the bat. Comfortable off the front foot and the back O'Connor's strength his patience, allowing the ball to do the work for him. A steady, relaxed stance on delivery and good, quick foot movement during shot execution makes O'Connor one of Bacup's more technically correct batsmen. Matt O'Connor has moved into the specialist fieldsman bracket after a couple of years at silly mid-off, partnered by Killelea at short-leg; the pair make a formidable attacking weapon. Taking numerous great catches and as many great blows O'Connor has cemented his position under the helmet for years to come. (Bacup CC Website 2001).
