Profile:
Chapman is unquestionably one of the LCLs most renowned characters, his somewhat
eccentric methods of wicket keeping and his willingness to speak his mind have
sometimes lead to the "Cricketing Elite" to overlook his impeccable record
behind the stumps, in favour of less militant types (whom are more often than
not far less talented.) At first glance one would not instantly put Chapman
behind the stumps, over six feet tall, well built and heavily tattooed, all of
which is accompanied by a skinhead / bald crossover. Chapman has kept wicket for
the senior team in excess of a decade and is able to take the ball well,
standing-up or back to the majority of bowlers. Chapman has in previous seasons
held the title of best LCL wicket keeper and is always found in the top three at
the seasons-end standings. Chapman's batting is forceful and aggressive and best
suited when the ball is coming on to the bat. Generally batting in the
lower-middle order he has occasionally opened the innings as a "pinch-hitter" to
varying degrees of success. Chapman is invaluable where team morale is
concerned; his obvious sense of humour is only second to his determination on
the pitch, his humour often forms an avenue of relief from pressure for the
other team members whilst playing. (Bacup CC Website 2001).
