Although still only seventeen, Ben is somebody who seems to have been around for years. He was second team scorer at a very young age and has graduated from there through our youth teams. As time has passed and Ben has got bigger and bigger and bigger, the focus has changed from batting to bowling to the point where he has recently been successfully opening the bowling for the first team, before having to give way to his dad (having bowled the overs allowed for one his age). He took part in first team pre-season friendlies in 2006 and spent the rest of that season as an integral part of a very young second eleven which had a terrific season. He bowls a good line and length at a good pace, with, we hope, more to come as time passes. Ben also has ability with the bat which he showed in our junior teams, something which is not to be overlooked, and we look forward to that also developing in the future to give Bacup another all-rounder called Lord.
